My son gained almost two grades higher than his year 13 mock paper. His tutor was excellent.
A grade 8 at GCSE Maths doesn't always carry into Year 12, and by the end of the year the mock is already shaping what UCAS sees. Our Coventry A-Level tutors find where the depth is leaking marks and rebuild it before the predictions are set.

A COVENTRY MOCK-TO-OFFER STORY
A-Level results across Coventry sit close to the national picture, but the spread inside a single subject is wider than a headline grade suggests. A student can look fine in class and still lose the top-end marks that separate a B from an A, usually on the evaluation or the multi-step working school hasn't had time to drill. That's the gap a Coventry A-Level tutor works on first.

The Degree Gap has exceeded all my expectations. They have gone above and beyond to pair both my sons with the appropriate tutors, all of whom have been exceptional. Both my sons exceeded their expected grades in their GCSEs and A Levels and got into their first choice universities. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I wish I had found The Degree Gap when I was sitting my school exams. They helped with my dissertation work and without their help I am not sure I would have graduated so successfully and landed a successful job.

Get in touch and we'll connect you with the right A-Level tutor for your child. We'll ask a few questions about their subjects, year group, and exam board — and introduce you to a tutor who fits.
Yes. Those schemes screen on predicted grades and the subjects behind them, so the tutoring focuses on lifting the work in Maths and the Sciences that the engineering routes weight most. We also help with the application side, drawing on the founders' own experience of the process. Each employer sets its own requirements, so we check the live ones before building the plan.
It's normal, and it isn't about effort. A-Level Maths is a genuinely different subject, especially the jump into pure, mechanics and statistics all at once. A tutor finds where the gap sits, usually on a past paper in the first session, then builds the depth Year 13 papers demand from session two.
The tutor works on the marks that decide the band, the AO3 evaluation, the multi-step questions, the timing that costs marks at the end of a paper. Most of that lives in exam technique, not fresh content. Start in Year 12 and there's room to lift the work well before the mock that fixes the prediction.
From £37 per hour. The rate depends on the subject and the tutor, agreed before booking, and qualified examiners sit at the higher end. Most Coventry families run a weekly hour through Year 12 and add a second in the weeks before the Year 13 mocks.
