Life After Year 11 in Liverpool
Liverpool students split across a few main routes once GCSE results are in.
Sixth Forms
St Edward’s College, Liverpool Blue Coat and Cardinal Heenan run strong school sixth forms, with St Francis Xavier’s and Calderstones drawing students from across the south of the city. Each sets its own entry bar, and most ask for a grade 5 or 6 in the core subjects.
Apprenticeships
Jaguar Land Rover hires engineering apprentices at its Halewood plant, and Unilever and AstraZeneca run schemes over in Speke and on the Wirral. Most ask for grade 4 to 5 in Maths and English, with GCSE Science tutoring often what clears the technical-route gate.
Further Education
